The Crystal Palace, designed by Joseph Paxton, is built.

1861

Amateur club formed as part of Crystal Palace Company’s business

1863

Palace are one of 11 clubs that found the FA and are one of the teams that strongly push for the soccer version of rules, against those that wanted to follow those we now associate more with rugby. It was close, but Palace and the soccer followers win the day. The rugby followers leave.

1871

1871

Douglas Allport, Crystal Palace Captain and member of the FA, suggests a 3 man sub committee that establishes the rules for the newly proposed FA Cup, selects the design and buys the first FA Cup! Palace get to the semi-final.

 

1905

Professional Club formed. The Crystal Palace Company Ltd are the majority and controlling shareholders.

1969

Palace get to the top flight of English football for the first time

1973

Palace Change Colours to Red and Blue and the nickname becomes ‘Eagles’

1979

Palace get to the top of the top division in English football for the first time in their history.

1990

Palace make it to their first FA Cup Final

2010

Palace avoid relegation to the 3rd tier in the last game of the season and are rescued from bankruptcy by the CPFC2010 Consortium.

2018

Peter Manning publishes ‘Palace at the Palace’ revealing the true history and lineage of Crystal Palace FC.

2020

The Club officially endorses Peter Manning’s work and widely publishes the newly documented heritage.

2021

Palace introduce a replica kit based on the 1861 kit in recognition of the 160 years since the founding of Crystal Palace FC.
